1984 Lake Placid Blue Fender Stratocaster E Series MIJ 1962 ST-62 Made in Japan Strat - OHSC - Refret with Stainless Steel - Plays like a new guitar again~! See details below!

Want old school vintage mojo without breaking the bank? Look no further! This guitar is now older than the guitar it was a reissue of. The 62 was 22 years old when this was new, and this guitar is now 38 years old! And its built to vintage specs! It's fantastic!

This guitar had severe wear on the neck and was only playable with a pretty high action set and it kept getting worse. So after all this time, we decided to have it professionally re-fretted. The board was flattened and the holes filled, still 7.25" radius, and new vintage stainless steel frets installed. The fretwork is immaculate, better than 99% of the guitars you will ever play - certainly as almost any brand new on the shelf these days.

Fender moved factories and the last USA models were Dan Smith 1984s... the Squire and Fenders were all made in Japan in the transition. This is one of those guitars! One of the first Fenders ever made outside of the USA!!  This is a 1962 styled Stratocaster featuring:
  • Vintage 7.25" radius maple neck/rosewood fingerboard; no skunk stripe - adjusts at base of neck just like a 1962 this model is a reissue of
  • Original Gotoh tuning machines
  • Basswood body - do not let people tell you these were Alder body Strats - they are not, and it is plain as day when you listen to it, its much warmer with less high end than a USA alder body Strat. It definitely sounds amazing though!
  • USA Fender Hard Shell Case
  • Comes with Strap & Strap Locks, will include strap buttons as well
  • 7.7 lbs
All original hardware, pots except:
  • Neck has been professionally restored, flattened and re-fretted - 7.25" vintage radius with vintage size stainless steel frets - will NEVER have to be done again!
  • Came to shop with 2 dead pickups: Original ceramic pickups replaced with new Fender 57/62 set with Orange Drop tone cap
  • Original plastic 5 way didn't work in all positions; replaced a USA Fender 5 way
  • Plastic string trees have been replaced with metal USA style string trees
This is one of the coolest Strats we've played and it's definitely heading toward collectible status! The E series ran 84-87 and we believe this to be an early model based on markings (and lack of) that point to it being closer to 84 than 87.

Note the pics make this guitar look very blue, but the LPB has actually yellowed/faded over 38 years and is more green/yellow in real life - as you would expect from a guitar of this age.

Reasonable offers and trades considered. If you have any questions, please ask~!!
