The original is no longer available for purchase, but currently I am taking orders for another. Hit me up for more information.
This acoustic archtop is an -almost- time period accurate replica of a 1934 Gibson L5.
It features a 16" body, which, in spite being smaller compared to the nowadays common 17" contemporary archtops design, it is fine tuned and capable of delivering a loud, punchy -yet full and rich- sound, that really fills a room.
Built trying mimicking the traditional look and feel of an early-thirties L5, it features few invisible, yet noticeable, design changes that makes this instrument feel at home with the modern player.
The neck is a three piece lamination for maximum stability, with a Peruvian Walnut center stipe, and a traditional one-way trussrod.
Fingerboard and bridge are made with master grade Gaboon Ebony.
Finished with nitrocellulose lacquer, this guitar maintains the iconic look of the pre-war gibson archtop that so many people appreciate.
The whole build process is fully documented on my instagram account: @rizzoguitars
This guitar comes with a rigid case

- X-Bracing: whilst the original L5 featured Parallel Bracing, I think that a thinly carved X-Bracing pattern can improve the vibrating abilities of this fine Italian Red Spruce top, enhancing its bass response;
- larger (47mm) nut width: the wider neck, backed with its short 24.75" scale lenght, makes it easy to fret finger-tangling chords and licks, typical of jazz and swing music;
- PVC plastic binding to highlight and protect the edges of the instrument, without rotting or cracking over time.
