This is an older jinashi (unrefined bore) shakuhachi in the key of C# with binding. Nice bright sound with good volume and a strong Ro. (lowest note). The utaguchi is natural without an inlay but I gave it a shellac coating for added strength and protection.
There are no cracks or damage to the bore and for the age is in excellent condition.
The rootend had some wormholes which are now covered.
Suitable for the traditional ensemble with koto or shamisen and a good instrument for the beginner or intermediate player.
There is a inscription on the backside of the flute (see photo) which as yet has not been interpreted.
Comes with my Beginner's Playing Guide with valuable instruction and more resources and guides.
