Thompson 12 Fret 00041 Mahogany Lutz Spruce

The Thompson 12 Fret 000 guitars are based on an exceptional 1929 000 owned by Preston's late friend and mentor Charles Sawtelle. For years before the dreadnought was designed, the 12 fret 000 was the largest guitar available. The 12 fret 000 is still one of the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing guitars ever created. The tone and versatility is unequaled.

Thompson 12 Fret 000 guitars are built with the finest woods, materials and craftsmanship to deliver the true vintage tone and playability. This 000 has mahogany back and sides with a Lutz spruce top. Lutz spruce has the rich, warm character of Sitka but with a little more volume and projection.

The absolute beauty of this instrument cannot go unnoticed. The tonewoods are perfectly complemented with the abalone purfling and rosette, and the tortoise binding and overlay on the slotted headstock. The mahogany neck offers optimal playability and with a scale length of 25.4 inch and string spacing of 2.4 inch is this especially a great guitar for fingerstyle players.
