Up for sale, a 2017 Fender Aerodyne Stratocaster medium scale HSS model in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a Gunmetal Blue gloss finish. A "Made in Japan" exclusive model not designed for export, this Strat features a shorter 24 3/4" scale, contoured neck heel, satin neck profile finish, and a 9 1/2" radius fretboard, all features engineered for lightning fast playing and easy bending. The basswood body offers a neutral, balanced tonal profile, especially favored for high gain scenarios, and the original Dragster BB bridge position humbucker is clear and powerful, equal parts punchy and cutting. The neck and middle position single coils offer more traditional Strat sparkle and chime, with a broad tonal palette accessible via the five-way pickup selector switch. This Aerodyne feels elegant and effortless, lightweight at 7lbs 5oz and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile carve with generous shoulder, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The dark, tight-grained 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the stock slender fretwire has well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4, playing easily up the shorter 24 3/4" scale. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The matching Gunmetal Blue headstock features Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.
All of the electronics function as intended, with clean black plastic parts and chrome hardware, complementing the Gunmetal Blue finish. The four-bolt neck has a contoured heel allowing for easy access to the highest frets, and the "Made in Japan" text with JD-prefix serial number is present directly above the neck heel. Cosmetic wear is limited to light pick scuffing on the treble side of the guard, a few light marks on top behind the bridge, and a few additional dings and scuffs on the body parameter and back. The satin neck profile finish is very smooth with just a couple tiny marks on the profile length.
