I picked this antique sousaphone up a few years ago. I have done some research on Whaley & Royce, and there is very little information on the brand, though it seems to have been an instrument brand in Canada in the early 1900's. I had the sousaphone completely overhauled - dent removal, joint solder, ultra-sonic cleaning and refinishing. The horn has been refinished in an antique brass finish, with lacquer on the name plate and the inside of the bell. The engraved name plate on the bell says "Ideal" model, along with brand name and "Toronto" for the location. The valves on the horn work very well. There are still some minor dents, but overall, this horn is great. Unfortunately I do not have the time to play anymore and it takes up too much room. This horn can be a great addition for a collector or a musician looking for a horn with some history. The sousaphone comes with a Protec sousaphone case. The mouthpiece is included.
