Guild Black Star - made in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1963. The Black Star model is something of a rareity - made from 1962 with a black finish, but this finish was a stain as opposed to a painted finish, and it had a tendancy to fade which this one has on the front and sides to a walnut colour (see the Guild book where you can find an exact example of this); but the back and neck have retained much more of the original colour.
It has two Guild humbuckers each with volume and tone controls and a three-way pickup selector switch; original bridge with wooden base and "harp" tailpiece with "G" cutout. The fretboard has twenty frets, and the headstock has the original Statite tuners and serial number dating it to 1963 as does the label inside.
It comes in its original and very worn case but which does its job. This is a rare guitar and more than that, it is a fabulous player.
