Last price drop, original description follows:
This rare, early 1930's Pre-War Gibson L-50 archtop acoustic guitar does show it's age, but still has lots of promise!
The most significant issue would be that it is "bellying" some to the top of the body under the end of the fretboard. It's not really that bad & actually has very nice action as it is with no buzz. This was common with these early L-50's due to the neck block not being quite stout/long enough to prevent bellying over time. no sign of any bellying between the soundhole & bridge.
The neck does not look to need a reset & has a clean, tight body/heel bond.
It is playable as it is, but I would strongly suggest addressing bellying issue so as not to make worse over time. The neck is super nice as is the fretboard & only minimal fret wear.
The finish is all original & heavily checked. Has two repaired cracks to the top at the bass side of the bowl. I cannot see any other repairs or cracks, just lots of finish checking & some scuffs here & there.
The bridge is not original, but tailpiece is. The tuners are not original as would have had Waverly style tuners. The ones on it are a very nice vintage set of nickel Kluson Deluxe and these are worth a couple hundred on their own.
The truss rod cover looks correct and has what appear to be the original slotted screws, but may be newer as is really clean.
Aside from maybe finding an original bridge and/or tuners, just shore up the neck block area & this old beauty will play wonderfully with really low action.
Shipping via UPS Ground insured w/tracking to the US Lower 48 only is $60.00 & a good chunk of this charge (likely about $20.00) will go to insurance, so is not excessive.
The guitar will be shipped in a newer semi-hard case in good condition. The case is decent, but nothing special, hence no pics of it as wanted to prioritize images of the guitar.
Thanks for looking & good luck to all!
