This module is only available as a DIY build and this one was built by
me. It's been tested thoroughly and everything is guaranteed to work.
It's a new build so other than the testing it hasn't been used.
What
this module does is it recreates the resonator section on the old
polymoog polyphonic synth. The purpose of it is to provide formant-like
qualities to the synth, which can be used to make a synth sound a bit
more like a traditional instrument like brass or others. This is
demonstrated really well in the video below, which is of the actual
filter section taken out of a poly. This module is a direct clone of
that and sounds very much the same. You can also use it for some more
basic EQing duties.
You have 3 fully parametric filters, which
means you can adjust the Frequency, Gain, and Emphasis (width) settings
for all 3. There is a switch with 4 positions that switches all 3 filter
types at once, between HP, LP, Band Pass, and Notch. The BP and N
settings are very similar but you can still hear a subtle difference.
This switch, combined with the other filter controls, gives you a lot of
depth in sound sculpting ability.
You also have dry and wet
control levels. You could use these to quickly compare between the wet
and dry sounds, or you could mix a little of the dry back into the wet,
and depending on the filter type and settings you have, doing so may
result in some interesting phase cancellations giving you even more
sound sculpting options.
