The Hucht DAT Copyprocessor MK II is an extremely rare, professional quality unit.
Another recently sold for $229 on eBay:
I've owned this item for years; it was essential when I was using DAT for backups. What this does is remove the Serial Copy Management System Encoding, thereby allowing digital to digital recording, such as needed in professional recording or home backup/archive applications.
The S.C.M.S. Code is automatically encoded onto all DAT, DCC, MiniDisc, and Personal Recordings recorded by any Home or Portable Digital Tape Recorder. The COPYPROCESSOR restores the ability to make direct Digital to Digital copies and removes the SCMS encoding on your tapes.
ThE DAT COPYPROCESSOR MK II is handcrafted in Germany by HUCHT ELECTRONIC LABS and comes with an internal 110 volt transformer.
The unique design of the DAT COPYPROCESSOR MKII with input for 1 Playback unit (either coaxial or digital fibre optic cable) will allow you to obtain two outputs (1 coaxial and 1 fibre optic) perfect for making 2 copies at one time while on the road.
The COPYPROCESSOR MK II is especially designed for signals using the 'SONY-PHILIPS Digital Interface' or SPDIF, used by virtually every digital consumer audio device such as CD, DAT, MOD, DCC, MiniDisc, DSR, etc. The output format of the COPYPROCESSOR MK II is always SP-DIF.
The COPYPROCESSOR MK II is designed to be inserted between two digital audio units and therefore equipped with optical and coaxial input AND output connectors. The two output connectors may be used simultaneously but only one input connector can be used at the same time:The unused input must be left open or unconnected.
By using the DAT COPYPROCESSOR you can edit and move digitally recorder material from one tape to another, saving $$$$ in half filled tapes while retaining an original Master tape that is not encoded with S.C.M.S. copy protection. Perfect for home digital to digital recording.
The COPYPROCESSOR MK II features an anti copy protection processor and a format converter for digital recordings of audio-data to digital media such as DAT, MOD, MiniDisc, PCM 601 etc. By processing the subcode of the input-data, the COPYPROCESSOR MK II modifies part of this subcode so that the output-data are free from SCMS copy protection code.
All the other digital audio data will be transferred completely unchanged!
Once the data has passed the COPYPROCESSOR MK II the recording will be free of copy protection code and may be duplicated (cloned) by any SCMS recorder without the use of additional hardware as often required.
The COPYPROCESSOR MK II even can be useful when the digital source does not contain the copy protection code but, due to the category code set according to the SCMS standard, allows one digital recording. This may be the case when using DSR tuners, DAT recorders etc.
Even then using the COPYPROCESSOR MK II guarantees the possibility of making unlimited copies.
EVERY COPYPROCESSOR MK II WAS HANDMADE AND INDIVIDUALLY TESTED. Purchased 1992 and then put into storage in 2005 until now.
