Hondo Lazer guitar (XK-3B)with patented Erlewine Wine-O-Matic headless bridge system.  This has been my travel guitar for about 2 decades and is built to last.

Erlewine designed the Lazer guitar which sells for around $3,000 and there's a very good reason it demands such a high price. It's an awesome guitar; he presented one to Johnny Winter and Johnny took it on stage shortly after.  He owned a number of them because he loved the sound and the light weight.

At one point, Erlewine licensed the design to Hondo who brought out a much cheaper model. But mass production wasn't the way to go with this brilliant design so the arrangement only lasted a couple of years before Mark withdrew his permission for them to use his design.

I was lucky enough to find one of these years ago (someone had decided it would make a great steel guitar and had installed over-height posts, but it was restored to the original parts before I bought it).  I had my local music store install an upgraded pickup (Seth Lover coil tap by Seymour Duncan) and it comes with a (cheap and crappy) fitted case that allows you to carry it around when travelling.

They don't come up too often so snap up this lovely design that turned Johnny's head. Price does not include shipping and if there are any taxes/duties they are the buyer's responsibilities, as usual.

(p.s. no guarantee you will be able to play Johnny B Good like Johnny Winter).

I'm no luthier so if you are asking me about refretting or anything technical I can't provide a good answer. What I can tell you is that I saw Johnny WInter playing one and wanted to get one. I contacted Erlewein who designed it and he told me he had licensed it to Hondo but took the license back after a few years because their quality standards weren't high enough (he does have very high standards which is why he hasn't made millions).

I did find this one on eBay and it is the Hondo version (which is why it sells for less than the $3,000 base Erlewein demands). It is a bit of a pain to tune due to the knurled reverse wiring screws (which are stiff but it tends to stay in tune and requires little adjustment).

My Lazer came with a coil tap pickup (allowing you to go from true humbucker to a single coil) but I decided to install the Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups to really allow for a wider range of sound and at the time was the best pickup available, hands down.

I'm not sure what other info I can provide, other than this has been my "travel guitar" while going through Europe and in the Bahamas and I've been very happy with the tone vs. the work involved in lugging a guitar along. Other than price, US customs fees are the only concern a potential buyer should have as it will be playable out of the case.  I'm still ambivalent about selling it as I'm sure I will miss it (last trip I took a beautiful Cordoba uke and it was just sad, even with a Blackstar Fly amp; but that's likely due to my talent lol).

Shipping will be by hand to Vancouver, then UPS will package and ship it to destination (insured). It is estimated this will be between $100 to $150 so if you pay $125 I will refund the difference if it comes out less.  You are still responsible for local sales taxes and of course any duty.
