Rare Chinese Classical Wooden Dizi Flute - Good, used and not properly tested

Rare Chinese Classical Wooden Dizi Flute, one-piece 6-note instrument with etched Chinese characters and beautifully finished in Black Gloss. Traditionally made from Bamboo but this piece looks more like wood, we're uncertain ?

Sometimes referred to as a Membrane Dizi due to the hole closest to the mouthpiece having a cover / membrane which gives this ancient Chinese Flute its characteristic sound. This membrane looks plastic or similar ?

Working with wonderfully mellifluous tone but not properly tested as we're not players

Approx. 56cm long - meaning this item can only be sent as a large parcel, reflected in the shipping cost

Good, used condition with some minor surface wear

So many dizi are made from bamboo that many consider it a bamboo flute. But there are wood dizi, too, and occasionally even other materials are used including ivory, jade, and even stone.

Dizi have a range of about two octaves, plus a note or two. The range depends both on the instrument and the skill of the musician.

Dizi are more a family of like instruments than a single kind of flute. Though they have many structural similarities, their voices can differ dramatically.
