Seymour Duncan Humbucker SH-5 7-String Duncan Custom Pickup

Seymour Duncan Humbucker SH-5 7-String Duncan Custom Pickup

The SH-5 Duncan Custom delivers a punchy, articulate response across the full dynamic range—aggressive when pushed hard, controlled and defined at lower volumes. Hand-built in Santa Barbara, this 7-string humbucker bridges the gap between modern high-output aggression and vintage-inflected clarity, making it equally at home in drop-tuned metal rigs and extended-range jazz fusion contexts.

Tone & Output Character

Moderate output paired with a small ceramic bar magnet produces a balanced tonal signature that avoids the mud of oversized magnets while maintaining presence and sustain. The vacuum wax potting eliminates feedback and squeal, ensuring stability during high-gain applications and rapid position switching.

Construction & Materials

Nickel silver bottom plate and foamed backing contribute to the pickup's resonant character and structural stability. The 4-conductor shielded cable provides wiring flexibility for coil-splitting or series/parallel configurations, while the 7-inch lead accommodates most routing schemes without requiring extensions.
