Alembic Basses and Guitars

Alembic was started by Owsley Stanley in the Grateful Dead's rehearsal space with one focus -- fidelity. With an eye and an ear toward improving every piece of the signal path, from instruments to the PA, Alembic was soon incorporated by Ron Wickersham, Rick Tuner and Bob Matthews and the first instrument was a bass built for Jack Casady. Specially designed low-impedance pickups paired with an active onboard preamp, the first of its kind in a bass or guitar, and gave way to extremely wide bandwidth and stunning sonics matched only by the meticulous craftsmanship and finishes for which Alembic basses are known.
