Many functions are still in excellent shape, but this unit has a few flaws and is priced accordingly. For someone who is a little technically knowledgeable or in contact with a good tech this would be an incredible deal, it could be a nice unit to purchase for LAMM upgrade as well, since servicing anyway is recommended. The main issue is the tuning instability, even though sometimes (not always/often) can achieve "6 tuned", as in the picture, this is misleading, as the pitch of all oscillators wavers a bit causing chords to be somewhat out of tune after a short while. The waver is enough to be perceptible over 15 seconds or so. It is beyond simple "analog warmth" and an issue that really is recommended to be fixed. Other issue is the bottom octave of the keyboard is mostly dead, can sound sometimes if you press hard, the other octaves respond just fine. Finally, program changes happen fine (the sound changes, and there are some really nice presets/sounds here), but the display is stuck on "4" for some reason. On the good side, the oscillator waveforms and filter, envelopes etc. still sound wonderful. I would put the tone beyond all other 80's polys that I've owned even the jupiter 8. Has a recognizable moog character in the filter but also is much more versatile than it would seem -- the possibilities of 3 oscillators per voice are almost unlimited. A pity moog never again made a poly sounding anywhere near this good. I will include a new SKB road case (pictured).
