About this listing
Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG-1 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. First introduced in 1972, the SG-1 is an uncommon iteration of the SG platform, essentially an evolution of the SG Junior with a single Tarback mini humbucker.Weighing 6lbs 2oz, the alder body and three-piece maple neck deliver a clear, balanced acoustic response with great treble attack. The mini humbucker “Tarback” is epoxy potted for excellent feedback rejection, working well with higher gain and providing a sparkling, dynamic response. This SG-1 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.Neck Specs:Wood: Maple (three-piece)Shape: Slender C, measuring .820” 1st fret, .985” 12th fretFretboard: Rosewood, pearl small block inlayFrets: Medium jumbo, no wearScale Length: 24 3/4”Nut: 1 9/16”Tuners: Gibson Deluxe double-lineSerialization: Six-digit stamp dates to early ‘70sBody Specs:Wood: AlderPickup: Tarback mini humbuckerControls: Volume, ToneHarness: Untouched solder, CTS pots date to 29th week of 1971Hardware: Wraparound compensated bridgePlastics: One-ply pickguard, black witch hat knobs, control plateThe gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, showing a couple small spots of case rub on the body edge.
