About this listing
1978 Fender Telecaster – Natural / Rosewood Fingerboard – All OriginalFor sale is my all-original late-'70s Fender Telecaster in Natural finish with a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar is completely original and fully functional, retaining all of its original hardware and electronics. The serial number is S838097, and one of the original CTS potentiometers is stamped R1377907. The 137 manufacturer code indicates a CTS pot, while 7907 denotes the 7th week of 1979. As with many late-'70s Fenders, serial numbers and component dates can overlap, so this places the guitar firmly in the 1978–79 period. I cannot read the other pot's stamp due to solder covering the numbers.Condition-wise, it's in very good vintage shape. The frets still have plenty of life left in them and play well. It's also a particularly light example for a late-'70s Telecaster (I'll update the listing with an exact weight when I have it).The only modification is that the underside of the pickguard has been professionally shielded with aluminium tape to help reduce noise. Otherwise, the instrument remains original.Cosmetically, the guitar shows honest wear consistent with its age. There is a chip in the lacquer on the upper horn (pictured), along with the general signs of use you'd expect from a guitar that's over 45 years old.I believe I'm only the third owner of this instrument.A great opportunity to pick up a lightweight, original CBS-era Telecaster that has been well looked after and still has many years of playing left in it.If you would like to try the guitar, I am based in Tooting near the common.
