About this listing
This Fender Jaguar was made in the USA in 1962. The Dakota Red finish was a non-custom colour finish so this may well be a very old refinish but could be original. Please see internal photos and headstock for evidence. The green pickguard is original which means the guitar was a custom colour originally. The neck stamp is "1 AUG 62 B". confirming this is a 1962 model. The condition is pretty good given that it is a 62 year old guitar but it does have significant signs of wear as shown in the photos. The string damper pad is worn out but can probably be replaced I haven't hardly played it at all for the number of years I've had it and I suggest that it would definitely need setting up after this time.I had someone very interested in buying this guitar a short while ago but the serial number dissuaded them because it doesn't match others of the time. The serial number is prefaced by a "-" which is unusual but was used in 1958-59. I have contacted Fender regarding this and also spoken with someone who worked for Fender some years ago. Fender stated that "Not every serial number comes up in our public serial checker or internal databases for various reasons:Our system is limited to more recent items and older items that pre-date our system may not appear in the search. The serial number could have been registered incorrectly or the product was ommitted from the search due to a technical error. Obviously this Pre CBS era was a time when Fender guitar production was less automated and structured than in later years and so anomalies will exist. The date on the base of the veneer neck indicate the guitar is authentically 1962, the first year of Fender Jaguar production. It comes with the original hard case.
