Tucked into the El Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain, you'll find Alberto Pérez's Sol de Sants Studios. As one of the most reputable and well-known studios in Barcelona, Sol de Sants has a client list that includes all kinds of musicians like Big Sean, Rosalia, Snarky Puppy, KRS-One, and many more.
The Madrid-born Alberto Pérez started Sol de Sants out of his home roughly 15 years ago after living abroad for some time where he played music and worked on recording and mixing bands. Later, Sol de Sants moved into their current location, which was one of the first recording studios built in Barcelona back in the 1980s.
In the video above, The Interview Company takes us inside this historic studio to learn more about Alberto Peréz and the work he's done at Sol de Sants, from recording small jazz ensembles to full orchestral film scores. Of course, there's also lots of excellent gear to ogle, from vintage guitars lining the walls of the spacious live room to the sprawling mixing board in Studio A's control room.
If you like what you see here, be sure to head to The Interview Company's website to check out some of the other studio tours and interviews they've done. Most recently, they traveled to Tails Out Transfer in Florida to talk to Andrew Yeomanson about the tape conversion and perseveration archive he runs out of his City of Progress recording studio. Check that out that video tour here.
