Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2018 Inductees

Following the announcement of its 2018 nominees in October, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has confirmed its inductees for next year's ceremony.

In the performer category, the institution will induct Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, and Nina Simone, and will recognize Sister Rosetta Tharpe with an "Early Influence" award.

Induction to the Hall is based on the voting of 900 members, along with an aggregate of a fan polling system that collectively counts for one additional vote. In fan polling this year, Bon Jovi came out on top with 1.16 million votes, followed by The Moody Blues with 947,000, Dire Straits with 613,000, and The Cars at 552,000.

Fan-favorite nominees that didn't make the cut this year include Judas Priest and Radiohead.

The recognition of Sister Rosetta Tharpe in this year's ceremony reflects a growing acknowledgement of her impact on the early development of rock guitar playing. For more on Sister Rosetta, check out our video lesson here.
