This Seymour Duncan SMB-5A 70's Music Man Alnico 5-String Bass Pickup is Used and in Very Good Condition. Used for a short period and then removed. Leads are at nearly full length. Comes in the original retail packaging with wiring diagram and mounting hardware (outer plastic box has some cracks/scratches/wear as shown).
The SMB-5A is a 5-string Music Man pickup that captures the feel, warmth and vintage ‘70s Music Man tone of the originals. Uses oversized alnico 5 rod magnets, together with unique coil windings, to deliver an extended response at both the treble and bass ends of the frequency spectrum. Compared with the ceramic version, this pickup is both warmer on the bottom, and more detailed on the top. This is the tone that changed funk, rock, and slap forever.
Drop-in replacement pickup size for 5-string Music Man Stingray basses and basses that utilize this form factor (Warwick Jazzman, etc). These pickups may fit into OLP / Sterling instruments as well but check the dimensions against the size of your pickup slot to be sure. NOTE: not a direct replacement for Music Man triple coil pickups and not compatible with the Ernie Ball 16-pole 3-way blade switch (you must replace it with a standard 8-pole 3-Way switch).
Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, this alnico Music Man replacement pickup uses oversized alnico 5 rod magnets, Forbon flatwork, 4-conductor leadwire, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation.
