This 1980s Hondo Death Dagger Bass is a wild, unapologetically aggressive instrument born from the era of pointy axes, big hair, and rad music.

Years ago, someone refinished the entire instrument in black.  While it does look like a hope job it looks decent.  The same person seems to have had the original saddles and tuners painted pink in some kind of finish that still allows them to function properly.  Despite the crazy body shape, the bass balances surprisingly well..

The pickup is a replacement, a nice Bartolini P setup that kicks some butt. The slim neck profile makes it fast and comfortable to play, and the original hard case adds to its appeal as a complete, well-preserved package from the decade of shred.  The case alone is a rare find.  If you have an all-original version of this bass, you might just want to grab this so you can swap your bass into it.  The case is huge - shipping will be expensive!

This bass is in solid player-grade condition with full frets and a straight neck.

As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and set up to play its best.

We buy, sell, and take trades on unique, vintage, and high-end instruments daily.

Mahar's Vintage Guitars is a brick-and-mortar and web-based retailer. We are happy to talk with you before you make a purchase.   Please reach out if you feel so inclined! We cross market our items here and on our own site, so items are subject to sale elsewhere at any time (however we will never cancel a sale if it happens here first). See our profile here, our Google reviews as well as our 100% positive Reverb feedback. Also, Reverb limits us to only 25 pictures of our items. There is a good chance we have more. Contact us if you’d like to see them.

No sales tax for direct sale customers outside California. Reverb sales are always taxed.
