About
- For every pedal sold I will donate 50% of the profits to the Shriners Hospital for Children Canada.
- This pedal comes with a free Royal Mint Sixpence (1967), the coin that Brian May uses instead of a pick.
- This time-limited deal is the same as the picture but in red colour and white details instead of chrome and black.
- Built in Canada with Canadian and foreign components.
A Modern Take on a Classic Treble Booster
- This pedal re-imagines the iconic Dallas Rangemaster treble booster, offering a good approximation to a vintage tone with modern reliability for those looking for a tone like Sir Dr. Brian May, Tony Iommi, Gary Moore, or Eric Clapton.
- While not an exact replica, it captures the spirit of the original with enhanced features. It comes in a red, black or chrome metal box, or a plastic box painted internally with anti-static paint to remove hum noise at the customer request.
- This pedal takes ideas from Paul in the Lab, the DIY Strat blog, Freyer pedals, and lots of experimentation with different capacitors and resistors to have high boost and low noise.
What Sets It Apart?
- Modern transistor: The heart of this pedal is an AC176 transistor, chosen for its consistent performance and affordable approximation of the original OC44.
- Extended tone control: A DPDT switch lets you go beyond treble boosting, adding options for bass and midrange frequencies for greater versatility in your tone.
- Enhanced functionality: A 3PDT switch enables true bypass, ensuring seamless integration into your pedal chain and zero signal loss when the effect is off.
- Volume control: Unlike some treble boosters, this pedal includes an audio potentiometer to adjust volume.
Practical Features for Everyday Use
- Standard Power Supply: Equipped with a 9V barrel connector compatible with popular 2.1mm center-negative power supplies like the 1SPOT.
- Custom Details: Each pedal is handcrafted, with engraved labels for controls (In/Out, B/T/M, Gain) and your name for a personal touch.
A Personal Journey into Music and Crafting
- As a musician with arthritis, I turned to pedal crafting as a way to stay connected to music. Inspired by modifying my guitar to emulate Brian May’s Red Special and experimenting with boosters like the Catalinbread Galileo.
- I build these treble boosters one by one as I get orders. The advantage of small scale production is that I can customize almost any detail, such as adding a volume and/or tone besides the gain control, switch the order of the input and output, and add personalized laser engraving or stickers before the protective coat by the end of the painting process.
- For customized engravings or stickers, please send me a message as there is a fee for renting the machine to do that.
