These pieces were part of the Gene Krupa Deluxe kit purchased in 1962 as a gift from the original owner's parents. The family went to see Krupa do a demo of this exact kit at Milt King's Drum Shop in South Bend, Indiana. The parents bought the kit after the demo. So Gene Krupa used both the throne and pedal.
I think this is a #839 Relax-A-Throne and Epic pedal.
Its thick cushion and wide tripod base add extra comfort and stability. Height-adjustable with large threaded center nut.
The cushion has no pinholes, tears or punctures or abrasions. Leg rivets are snug - no leg wobble. Condition is very good to excellent. The undersides of the rubber feet have worn through - see closeup.
The pedal functions well. Both pieces were used professionally for many years in a band called the Jaguars.
