This is a '70's Hondo II P-Style Bass. It's Transparent Red/Burgundy with a modified maple neck. It plays good, sounds good and still looks pretty good. The pickup is more of a Filtertron-Style than Split-Coil Classic P and has a real sweet sound.
As for the modified neck, someone "narrowed" it from just below the nut to about the 12th fret. While it's a decent job, there are scars and "hand-hewn" marks still on it. I sanded it and rounded the modified area a bit, along with taking the sharp edge off the fretboard sides and lightly dressing the frets. I then sprayed a bit of vintage tint lacquer, along with a few layers of clear coat lacquer. Turned out ok; way better than it was.
For some strange reason, this beast is real fun to play. The neck feels good and is straight, with good truss rod adjustment.
PayPal only. Lower 48/HI/AK only. I will ship within a couple days of receiving cleared payment.
DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE AN OFFER ! YOU NEVER KNOW! If you make a lowball offer, chances are I will counter with a still-reasonable offer.
This is now up for auction on you-know-where. I was hoping to sell here, but so far no interest. Thanks for looking.
