About This Listing

Vintage original 1976 Gibson SG Standard in original Cherry Red finish.

A very clean example and completely original.

Original Gibson Patent Stamped humbuckers are super warm and fat, with a real thick and meaty tone. Classic vintage SG Standard tone.

Neck is straight and easy to play. It is somewhat slim, and very easy to get around on.

Serial number dates the guitar to 1976 and the pots are all dated 1975. All pots, wiring and electronics are completely original and untouched.

The wood is supremely fine on this example, and it is just hands down a super nice example.

Completely original and very very clean.

Comes with original Gibson hard case, too.

Product Overview
The Gibson SG went through a rather major redesign in 1972, moving away from the vibrola tailpiece that had been with the model since the beginning and replacing it with a new "wide-travel" version of the Tune-O-Matic bridge (Bigsby vibratos were a factory option), going back to the "Small Guard" looks of the first run, and adding the infamous volute at the rear of the headstock which was supposed to decrease the likeliness of headstock breaks.
