1933 Gibson L4, Tobacco Burst Roundhole

 In the early days of Gibson guitars, the company produced the “L” series of acoustic guitars. These early instruments were played by the likes of Robert Johnson, and were true innovations of their time. The L4 was introduced in 1912 and was continually produced into the 1950s; here we have a 1933, a transformative time for the model. The year 1928 marked a move from the original oval shaped soundhole to a round one, which give this instrument a unique hybrid sound of archtop and regular acoustic. This particular piece is in very good condition for its age, with minor damage at the neck joint, as is typical for instruments of this age. The back piece of the body is also beginning to separate from the side at the lower bout, but this is not unexpected for a guitar this old. This guitar is a prize for any lover or collector of Gibson guitars and ships in hard-shell TKL case. Also included is the well-worn original hard-shell case.
