Up for sale, a 1997 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-53 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This early “Crafted in Japan” Stratocaster was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside its country of origin.

Designed to pay homage to the circa 1962 Pre-CBS Strat, the ST62-53 model has a basswood body, maple neck, and a slab rosewood fretboard. The pickups are a ceramic magnet variety, delivering an authoritative, cutting sound with more punch than traditional alnico magnets and plenty of quintessential Strat spank and snap. This Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep  at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire has moderate wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-13, growing progressively lighter as you approach the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” script text and O-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a five-way pickup selector switch and standard Volume/Tone/Tone control configuration. The chrome-plated jack cup and bridge base have plenty of shine, with light patina on the “Fender”-embossed saddles. Plastics comprise the trio of gently aged knobs and the three-ply white pickguard.

The gloss Sunburst finish exhibits numerous dings along the lower bout perimeter, and there is finish touch-up in a few of these areas. Further wear includes light buckle rash (largely contained on the tremolo cavity cover), and a few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with a few shallow nicks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting.

A faux leather padded gigbag is included.
