About This Listing

This Gibson ES-335 was made in the USA in 1963. It is an extremely cool example that shows normal play wear but breaks or repairs or any structural damage. The finish is original and look great. Being a 1963 it has a larger profile neck than the 1961/2 examples , and it is really a joy to play. It also has the first generation patent number pickups that are identical to PAFs except for the sticker. Most of the parts are original but the tuners have been changed to Grovers, it has been refretted, and the nut is changed. The abr-1 is original but the posts and wheels are newer. This guitar has been pro-setup in our store and it plays great. It comes with the original case.

Product Overview
The ES-355, officially known as the ES-355 TD, was introduced in 1958 as a high-end complement to the ES-335. Unlike the 335, the ES-355 featured an Ebony fingerboard with large block inlays, as well as multiply binding on the body. The ES-355 also had a split-diamond inlay on the headstock similar to the Les Paul Custom. In 1959, Gibson introduced the ES-355 TDSV which included the Varitone switch of the ES-345 and stereo outputs. With both version an vibrato tailpiece was the standard, though a stopbar was available as an option. On the resale market, examples with the stopbar tailpiece are considered the most desirable.
