About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a unique 535 model dynamic microphone based on the more common Shure Brothers 525 and 530 models. All three were "Slendyne" types with dynamic elements. This particular 535 Dynamic microphone is equipped with the dual impedance switch and was a radical looking mic for Shure Brothers as it was intended as a hand held microphone and has the same overall design as the modern microphones used today. This early handheld mic was revolutionary for it's time. It was manufactured in Evanston, ILL in 1957.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in an old Shure catalog I have along with it's basic characteristics.

The 535 was one of Shure's first stick mics. The music scene was evolving and more musicians were holding their mics so the 535 was specifically designed for just that. It's a solid mic. Shure only sold this model to two companies of which was Dukane and this uber low production Demambro Sound Equipment Co example. I have only ever seen one other of these as Demambro didn't sell a lot of their mics in the time they were doing so.

The 535 was sold from the mid 1950's to around the early 1960's before being discontinued and the mic utilized an adjustable impedance switch for both high and low setting. The switch works perfect for Low impedance. It does have an old school rockabilly sound and is omni-directional picking up a bit more background noise than a uni-directional mics of today.

This particular microphone was nicknamed the "Slendyne" for it's slender appearance and one of the first microphones made to fit comfortably in the users hand while singing or broadcasting. This 535 has extremely lite wear as you can see. No dent's, fractures or engravings. Just a few tiny scratches and a real gem of a mic. One of the nicer examples I have seen. The front screen looks great and free of any dents, odors or tarnish. This mic has a beautiful Shure label / badge as well. Completely legible.

This mic was very well stored over the decades. Hard to believe this mic is 70 + years old.

 This mic is a solid 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

Mic also comes with an original all metal Shure A-25 mic clip that's in great physical and working order so that you may mount this mic to any microphone floor or desk stand. The clip shows just lite wear and grips the mic firmly.

The mic comes with a long 3 pin Belden 8422 model cable that is soft, pliable and works excellent. It has the standard male Switchcraft 1/4 inch end connector that will work with most audio equipment.

A very special package deal that will really stand out in the vintage mic collection. If you want a classic Shure mic that few others have access too...this is your score. The mic will only go up in value because of it's rarity.

MICROPHONE DESK STAND SEEN IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...NOT PART OF THIS SALE.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
