Bourgeois 00-12C “The Coupe” DB Signature Deluxe Maritima Rosewood and Port Orford Cedar NEW

A very cool offering from Bourgeois Guitars, this “Coupe” 00-12C is their 12-fret offering on a 00 body shape and features rare Maritima Rosewood (Dalbergia maritima) back and sides, a true Rosewood from Madagascar also called Bois de Rose. It has a very striking and vibrant color with rich reds and purples- almost a combination of traditional Madagascar Rosewood and Cocobolo. It has a hardness very close to the famed Brazilian Rosewood and produces a similar glassy tone. The top is a wonderful pairing of Port Orford Cedar (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana), a rare wood in itself from the Pacific Northwest. Though called a Cedar it is harder and stiffer than a Cedar, and is actually in the Cypress family and rings like a true punchy Spruce.

A showpiece for the 2023 Artisan Guitar Show this April, the custom 00-12C is built with the DB Signature Deluxe package which features full figured Hawaiian Koa bound body, fretboard and headstock, DB signature multi-colored wood herringbone top purfling, rosette and wood arrow backstrip, Gold Waverly tuners with Snakewood buttons plus the full Aged Tone package- the Aged Tone thin gloss finish and Aged Tone torrefied Adirondack Spruce bracing with Animal Protein Glue construction under the hood.  Other Features include Ebony fretboard and bridge, Mahogany neck, Ziricote headstock overlay, Bone square and diamond fretboard inlays, Koa heelcap and wedge, 1 3/4″ nut width and more. Providing extraordinary comfort through a short scale length and condensed total length, the 00 Coupe is not your standard 12 fret small body 00. It transforms your perfect couch guitar into a versatile instrument with a surprisingly large sound. It’s got the shape of an elongated OM, just slightly smaller. The 12 fret short scale configuration pushes the bridge more towards the lower bout, more in the ‘sweet spot’ of the top. Warmth, volume and an ease of playing ensue.
