Aria Pro II U-100 Urchin Black 1982 Japan Vintage Matsumoku *Ultra Rare* !

Sorry, this listing is no longer available.

Aria Pro II U-100 Urchin made in Japan Matsumoku in 1982.
This is one of the first model that was available in red or black. Then they discontinued the black finish and replaced it with a yellow finish.
Thus the black model is extremely rare and hard to find (only found one in Black other than mine on the web..).

This guitar is in an amazing condition (most of those I found on the web have a lot of dings everywhere). Mine only has very minor scratches on the back and very minor dents around the edge of the horns, that's it. Its beautiful and unique original hard case is also included.

Built by the Aria Research & Development Lab. These were their flagship. These were the flagship. Matsumoto built Aria's with "The Custom Body Design" are the rarest most desired of the Matsumoko era . While Aria Pro  were some of the best of american copy guitars, This "Urchin" body shape is not a copy, but a unique design that is a legend in the guitar world.I consider it more of a myth because have only seen 2 others and they were not good examples.

This guitar is 33-34  years old .A Very special piece of Japanese master craftsmanship from Japan's golden era. A time when Japanese guitar quality was as good or better than their american counterparts. It has an amazing neck-thru body made of ash/walnut on the body. The thru neck is Maple/ebony. Its has a recessed "super tunable" bridge,Quick hook tail piece, a solid brass nut, ebony fretboard with beautiful oval "eyeball" pearl inlays.

All wiring/pickups and controls are original, function properly and never modified. It has two "classic power" humbuckers. There is a "normal" section which includes a master volume with 2 tones, a 3 position toggle switch, 2 dual sound switches, and 1 phase reversal switch. The "active effect" section includes a booster switch, boost level control, over-booster switch, an over-booster level control, a 6 position active Varitone selector rotary switch, and a tone selector cancel switch. This guitar has an electronics package that covers all tones from clean to being able to drive a 50 watt marshall tube amp into full overdrive. No overdrive pedal needed!!! Its has 2 new ultra life lithium batteries to power active circuit and can last up to 10 years. Very few Matsumoko made guitars got this circuit design.

See the pics for the electronics layout and Image of original factory specification sheet.

I am the second owner of this amazing guitar. No fret wear present and looks like it never was played. The case is the original hard shell case. The Tolex has some rash is missing on small piece on one side case ...but other than that you would swear that this case is like new.The rest is perfect including the inside no issues....sorry no key..see pics

The only flaws on the guitar are 2 minute blemishes near the top of bridge pickup in the red area and between the nobs. These are slight nicks and I would bet these were present when new.The rear horn tips are clean of chips,a common issue with extreme guitar shapes. These are shown in the pics and had a real hard time photographing it.

Neck is flawless and is perfect. Very straight, with action fast and low.

No belt buckle rash here.

It is almost impossible to find this model and in this condition shown in the pics.On a scale of 1 to10 its a 9.9....and its 34 years old!!!

I have only seen 2 of these ever on Ebay. The first had chips , dents and chunks of wood missing, pickups were swapped out and it sold for about $1200 USD. The second one was in better shape,30 years of playing wear and in average condition with corrosion issues and sold for $2125.00 USD. If you Google "ARIA PRO ll Urchin U-100 " and scroll down till you see "Rare Bird". Click on that forum and at the top you will see a link to the Ebay listing in the top post. I actually played that guitar because that seller had a store here on Long Island in NY. I was happy I passed on it because of all the issues it had. Just after that I found this one...and almost flawless.
