Beautiful old jazz guitar, made by Framus in about 1959 in West Germany. Framus at that time was, besides Höfner, the biggest manufacturer of guitars in West Germany.

This is the small model 5/50 "Amateur", which was a small bodied, parlor sized archtop. It`s ideal for couch playing and travelling.

Sound and Playability:

As all archtops of that era, the guitar has a light, cutting wooden tone, really suited well for cutting through the mix of an ensemble. It`s more twangy and percussive than soft and full.

String action is at a comfortable 1,5 mm on the 12th fret high E. The guitar plays very soft and comfortably with a straight, fat neck. The action and straightness of the neck are so great that even electric players will find this super, super comfortable to play. The neck is a fat  wide D shape.

10 gauge strings (steel bronze, D´addarios) are attached.

Measurments 4,3 cm nut width, scale 628 mm, width at lower bouts 32 cm, depth 8,2 cm.

Flaws:

The guitar is in a very good condition due to its age.

The frets are in good shape with few traces, the neck is straight. This is a fine player if you are used to low string action; of course, with the bridge, you can put it higher and use the guitar as a small blues box or slide or strum away freely.

The guitar is all original.

I polished the frets, oiled the fretboard and the tuners, and put on new 10 gauge strings. The guitar comes un-tuned, and is playable immediately after tuning it up.

I have been shipping guitars to all kinds of remote regions of the Earth for almost 10 years now - rest assured that I know how to pack a guitar safely. However, there is always a small risk left (you never know how the package is treated). In case of a damage, please contact me immediately.

Shipping within EU usually takes about 5-7 days.

Shipping to the US: I use DHL since they offer a very reliable, easy to track and cheap service including insurance. They hand the packages over to USPS. Once a package has been shipped, I will check the tracking for the USPS tracking number and update it once it has been assigned. It is not uncommon that while a guitar shipped to NY or Chicago only takes about a week to be delivered, it might be up to 6 weeks for more remote locations. There is nothing I can do about it; please be patient. I appreciate it if you inform me immediately once the guitar arrived safely and leave a good rating.
