Own a piece of history. General description is that this guitar is a Martin Parlor circa 1860. There is a detailed spec out in the pictures done at The Nashville Guitar Company. That company dates the guitar ~1870. George Gruhn dates it between 1856 and 1866.
The Guitar was rebuilt to make it playable with nylon strings only. The tuners work but only hold a tune for a short period.
The guitar is all Brazilian Rosewood and shows the original circular saw marks on the back - which is pretty cool if you're a history buff. These guitars were made by fitting pieces together as large-sized single blocks of Rosewood weren't readily available.
The guitar includes the original 'coffin' case.
It is a family heirloom with sentimental value but we need to sell it before relocation.
