Shadow Powerstrat - Early Eighties
Really very good condition, apart from some light corrosion on some screws (pickup mounting ring), some dents on the backside of the neck, from placing the guitar oftly on some edges. Dents are only within the varnish, so they can be sanded out, or maybe be covered with some new finish, I think. One small crack between the screws for the locking nut. (see photos). One small damage on the backside of the body. These defects don't really affect playability and sound, otherwise the guitar is in really good condition.
Alder body (I suppose), Decent Curly Maple top (because of the overall sound with lots of highs I suppose this is a top, not only veneer)
Maple neck with D-profile, 42 mm saddle width
Original Shadow pickups (passive), 7,7 - 7,9 - 10,9 kOhm
Selectable with 3 on-off swiches
Humbucker not splitable
Volume, Tone
Floyd Rose licensed Vibrato, already with locking nut and very well working finetuners, most probably Schaller-made (The still more fenderlike pre-version of the later well known Floyd Rose, but ti one still uses the regular body routing.)
Black hardware
Very good and resonat sounding guitar, with really lots of highs and transparency, maybe because of the Shadow-pickups, and/or the maple top.
Really surprising is the sound of the humbucker, it is not the typically JB SH-4 high gain-type, but also does not sound like a PAF. Somehow it sounds like a mixture between a Strat-, a Tele-bridge-pickup and a humbucker. very unique, great tone, for almost any kind of music. Harmonizes very well with the single coils, with a little bit more output and punch, sounds more powerful, but with excellent almost tele-like, present, crispy highs and transparent, vivid tone.
Comes with original whammy bar well packed in double guitar cartons.
