MS-T2-LZ-01 Spoon, 2 category, Serebrov's Workshop

Who and when the first thought of turning ordinary tablespoons into a percussion instrument is now completely impossible to say. But the fact that it is the simplest, most colorful and widespread instrument of the Russian people is an indisputable fact.
Our painted wooden spoons are popular not only in our country, but also abroad. Thousands of them are taken by foreigners to their homes as souvenirs. Easy, beautiful, cheap and "two birds with one stone" at once is an ancient household item and it is also a musical instrument. Wooden spoons can be bought in stores, bazaars, or carved from dry wood by yourself.
Usually three spoons are used. Two of them are laid between the fingers of the left hand, the third is taken in the right. The first two serve as a double "anvil", which is beaten with a third spoon. Moreover, they beat with a glancing blow from one cup to another, immediately swatting them again with the fingers of the left hand. The result is a polyphonic rhythmic pattern. Sometimes, when playing while sitting, two or three or even four ladles are clamped in the legs, which are also periodically hit with a spoon.
Mastering the spoon playing takes some work and patience. One or another, especially complex, rhythmic pattern should be learned slowly at first, achieving automatism in movements. The grip described above is basic, but not the only one. Master virtuosos very deftly and variedly alternate strikes of the right hand on the left, left on the knee or shoulder in combination with hits on ladles.
