About This Listing

The JX-3P is a 6-note polyphonic 61-key synthesizer with sawtooth wave, 50%-10% pulse waveform, and noise generator. 32 factory programs in ROM and 32 programs in user memory.

With a standard 5-octave keyboard, the JX3P has none of the knobs or sliders that were common at the time.
The control surface, sitting on a sturdy metal chassis, is simple and elegant.
On the far left is the LFO trigger button, and below it is a huge pitch bender positioned horizontally, with a three-position pitch range switch.
It has three settings: "Wide" for up to a fifth of a beat, "Mid" for a third of a beat, and "Narrow" for a half beat.
All buttons on the main panel are equipped with status LEDs, continuing the visual character of the Jupiter series.

Even without the optional PG200, editing with the JX3P is intuitive.
Just use the map on the front panel to find the parameter you want to adjust, select Group A or B (16 elements each), and move the sense slider by the desired amount or press the corresponding edit button. The 256-step editing system allows for very fine adjustments.
The 256-step editing system allows for very fine adjustments, and the on-board operation is much better if you can find a programmer called PG-200.

It also has a built-in 128-step polyphonic sequencer that can be synchronized with an external device such as a drum machine connected to a simple clock pulse input jack MIDI clock synchronization is not supported.

As one of the earliest MIDI devices, the MIDI implementation is basic, supporting only note on/off, pitch bend, hold, modulation, and program change messages.

Like the JUNO and JUPITER series, the JX-3P is equipped with an excellent analog filter and VCA.
It is a six-voice polyphonic with a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) plus analog filters, envelopes and amplifiers.
Whereas the JUNO had one oscillator per voice, the JX-3P has two, giving you more flexibility.
The on-board programming interface is less hands-on than the JUNO, and the popularity of the JUNO series has undoubtedly been focused on the JX-3P.

The JX-3P may not be as popular as the JUNO, but it is a great vintage synthesizer capable of producing rich, classic analog sounds.
Considering the number of units produced, I feel that it would be hard to find an opportunity to get an actual unit in good condition.
Please take this opportunity to check it out.
