About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a somewhat rare 1968 Electro Voice 654A Dynamic microphone set at 150 OHMS and excellent for broadcasting and singing. You don't see too many of these mics around and they were quite expensive when they were sold by E.V being one of their higher end dynamic mics. Ideal for recording, broadcasting and studio purposes. The mic comes with the E.V 300 model mic clip, cable, data sheet and box shown.

Pic # 2 is from an older E.V advertisement showing the mics basic specs. Pic # 4 is of the actual 654A data sheet you'll be receiving. The data sheet is in very nice condition and has a ton of technical info on this mic and how to use it properly.

The mic is low impedance but I find that it has more of a medium range tone to it. Not heavy on the bass like the Shure SM-58 model.

This microphone was ultra lite weight and has a stock painted sage green tube that shows typical lite wear as you can see in the pics provided. Electro Voice painted the mic as the all chrome bodies were not ideal for live T.V or televised events with the extreme glare the chrome would put off. The E.V badge looks virtually new and the front grill looks very nice. This 654A is an easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

The 654A is appx 7 inches long X 1 inch across at the tip and this mic takes a standard XLR cable. The 19 foot cable is included and in excellent condition. Soft, pliable and has the standard male 1/4 inch end connector. This cable can be use on most all audio equipment and guitar amplifiers.

The front screen is free of dents, tarnish or odors. Very lite wear on the painted screen. The original foam liner was left be under the grill as it looks great. It helps reduce the dreaded "pops" you get from breathing and windy conditions. The rear XLR pins were cleaned as well ensuring a perfect signal.

If you have ever heard one of these then you will certainly appreciate the sound quality for an earlier dynamic microphone and it does come with a vintage E.V 300 model mic clip that grasps the mic perfectly and allows for a wide degree of tilt up and down. The clip wills crew onto any desk or floor stand as well. Clips looks excellent with virtually no wear.

The original 654A box shows just lite wear and an excellent accessory to have that adds value to the mic. A great place to store the mic as well when not in actual use.

This mic is ready to go!

As with all my vintage microphones...
