Up for sale, a 2017 Fender Hybrid 60s Jazz Bass in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. An upscale bass made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, the Hybrid 60s model is one of Fender Japan's newest and rarest, with a pair of Fender USA Vintage pickups, a satin neck profile finish, and modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius.
The instrument features the classic tonewood pairing of an alder body and maple neck capped with a thick slab rosewood fretboard. Acoustically, the bass has a smooth, balanced sound, and via the pair of factory-installed Fender USA Vintage pickups, the tone has strong attack and excellent sustain. The bridge pickup has the power, burp, and presence that helps a Jazz Bass cut through in ensemble situations, and it's easy to dial in the right amount of midrange growl and fundamental thump when balancing the sound between the two single coils. The tone can get quite broad too, simply by rolling off the bridge pickup Volume and Master Tone control, for a thick sound that doesn't lack definition. The bass weighs 9lbs. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazz Bass is strung with roundwound 45-105 strings and dialed in for low action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium U profile carve with good shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The bass has Fender's traditional 1 1/2" Jazz Bass nut width, with a full 34" scale length and a thick slab rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, with slender frets which have ample height and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear, primarily beneath the A and D strings on frets 1-5, with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. On the headstock, the long stem clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well with clean chrome plating. The peghead sports a correct '62-style "Fender Jazz Bass" decal too.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, including the pair of factory installed Fender USA pickups wired to USA-made CTS pots. The chrome bridge base and control plate shine like new, and the white pickguard compliments the Black gloss finish. The body is showroom clean with just a couple exceedingly faint marks on the body as a whole, while the satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
