Olivier Fanton d’Andon was born in France in 1953. Coming from a family
of musicians he first learned to play the flute, and later the classical
guitar. After studying medicine, he pursued his dream of making musical
instruments. Graduating as “Meilleur Ouvrir de France” in 1986, he has
received many awards for his beautiful instruments and the designation
as “Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur”. Olivier d’Andon is one of the
most brilliant guitar makers of these times and his guitars are made
with the highest creative energy and as well as extraordinary precision.
This guitar from 1998 has a modern appearance regarding the two-colored rosette and the form of the headstock. The arched top is made of spruce, back and side are Indian Rosewood. The binding, the headstock and the tuning pegs are especially beautiful. The sound is balanced with concise trebles and pleasantly warm mids and basses. The instrument shows signs of playing and spots of abrasion in the finish. The high-quality tuners are made by David Rodgers. A hard-shell case is included.
