A pristine Aria Pro II ZZ Standard, in black with black headstock, with chrome hardware. Built in 1985 at the Matsumoku plant in Japan. This is one of the three models from Aria's 1980's "exotic" series (the other two being the XX and the Urchin), and was designed based on the Gibson Explorer shape.
The guitar is in excellent cosmetic and musical condition. There is no noticeable fret wear. Neck is perfectly straight and sound. The finish is very well preserved and shiny, with only a few light dings and traces, consistent with age and moderate use. The hardware operates properly and smoothly. The instrument is clean and plays great. Hard to believe she is over 35 years old.
The two Protomatic-IV humbuckers have a nice tonal range, with rounded lows, defined midtones, and clear highs. The sound is articulated, punchy, and without any muddiness. Great sustain with excellent reverberation. 22 medium jumbo frets with moderate curve, great for bends and speeding. The tone knob doubles as a push-pull coil tap switch.
