This is a completely restored Rhodes Stage 54.  Although it does have the MKII style name rail and flat top, this model had the 3” red pickups, and not the less desirable white pickups usually found in MKII's. 54's were factory wired in series but I’ve rewired them in parallel, similar to the older 73 versions, for more clarity and reliability.  Also, when in series, if one pickup dies they all go out.

All the tines have been cleaned, measured, squared and replaced where necessary.  Tone bars have been plated nickel.  Tone bar assembly reinstalled with new screws, washers and grommets, and regulated for consistent volume and tone.  Pickups have been cleaned of any oxidation.  RCA from harp replaced with a 1/4inch jack for a better connection, and to easily bypass the tone and volume controls for recording direct, as I have for the sound clip below.  Name rail electronics were cleaned and input jack replaced.  Piano tuned with strobe tuner and then finely adjusted by ear.

The action has been fully restored and regulated according to service manual specifications for unparalleled consistency.  Backchecks have been added to all of the keys, reducing the hammer bounce and subsequent key bounce found on all factory Rhodes.  This is a great modification that adds to the responsiveness of the keys.  My refurbs feel like no other rhodes you've ever played. Better-than-factory standards mix with subtle modifications that improve on a simple yet beautiful design, all without changing aesthetics!

New hammer tips and damper felts were installed; keys cleaned, leveled, dipped, aligned and buffed to a satin finish.  No more of that slippery plastic feel.

Exterior case has been re-tolexed and new hardware and logos installed.  Legs and pedal cleaned and buffed. Flat top and cheek blocks sanded and professionally re-sprayed.

This is a rare model and is much lighter than its 73 and 88 predecessors.  The range is from C to F, loosing 19 keys from the top and bottom leaving the most useful section of the Rhodes.  This model is a great choice for the gigging musician who still wants the real deal, or where space is an issue.  The piano width is approx. 3' wide..

I have many more rhodes on the way!  Please check back to see my other listings as they are posted, and check out my web page, , for more information about my restoration process!
