Cimar (Ibanez) T-Style Custom ~1975 - lawsuit made in Japan

Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures. I am happy to answer any questions. Please note that you are looking at a used, and likely very old, guitar, and I can’t list every little dent and bump – I do my best, but if you are unsure, either refrain from buying or ask as many questions upfront as you can. Don’t be shy!

General introduction and background:

Super nice Cimar T-style solidbody guitar. Cimar was the second label of Hoshino Gakki, besides Ibanez. Hoshino tried to establish a second line of guitars in the 1970s with it to further penetrate the market. The Cimar label was used until the early 1980s. The first models were fairly similar with the Ibanez ones. This is, precisely, model No. 1943 CT as it can be found in the 1976 Cimar catalogue, albeit not in Mokka but Black colour.  A beautiful, and obviously insanely rare piece with a bone dry T-style sting and twang!
The maker of this guitar was likely Fujigen Gakki or Terada.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 628 mm

-     Nut: 41 mm

-     Weight: 3,62 kg

-     Pickups: T-style Custom layout with a single coil in the bridge and a humbucker in the neck position. Both pickups are likely Maxon made.

-     Body: not sure whether this is solid wood or laminate.

-     Neck: Maple with maple fretboard; vintage radius, but not too thing and narrow frets.

Condition:

-     Body: Good condition with a couple of scratches, dings and dongs, and lacquer abrasions on the lower bout. 

-     Neck: straight neck, frets are well preserved (8/10).

-     Electronics: fully functional 

-     Hardware: fully functional, aftermarket high quality Schaller tuners.

-     Originality: all original except the high quality Schaller tuners which are way better than the originals; new toggle switch (the old one was crapping out); someone drilled a hole next to the pots, maybe to install another pot or a mini switch (the humbucker is not splitable though). I closed the hole with a dummy screw. The original ashtray bridge cover is missing.

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays very easily with a low string action, great fun to play. Warm sounds from the pickups, also with lots of clarity. Please watch the video.

 - Intonation: pretty much spot on, fairly adjustable with the bridge

-     Sound: very airy and twangy single coil in the bridge, dark and warm sound from the humbucker in the neck position (use a lighter and harder pick for a more trebly sound when playing it). The guitar is a breeze to play. As written above, please watch the video.

Repairs, Service:

-     Complete cleaning of body, parts and fretboard

-     Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-    Full check of the electronics, all ok

-     New 10 gauge Pyramid strings put on

-     Set up as good as possible

-     Ready to be played (just tune it up)

-     No case included. Will be shipped in wrap and sturdy cardboard box.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
