A NEW TAPE ECHO FOR THE MODERN VINTAGE WORKFLOW

the sound of the Space Case can be described as being a combination between a line level mixdown machine hooked up to a console (the original tape echo technique from the 50′s) and the classic portable hi-z devices we all know from the 60′s and 70′s. that is because this is precisely what it offers… it has a narrow format track width like the hi-z classics but the circuit is essentially a studio tape machine in terms of gain staging character.

the Space Case offers a widely variable palette of results and creativity options due to the machine’s many features that are not available on any other echo. please look around throughout site for more about performance features.

the line level performance is a first in the history of tape echoes, making it the first ever real “engineer’s” tape echo, if you will. the basic line connections are 1/4″ TS. the optional transformer balanced line I/O upgrade adds high quality transformers at both the line in and line out and both xlr and trs balanced connections. the practical benefits of transformer balanced/isolated connectivity are something we are all familiar with, including noise/hum-free connection no matter what the scenario and seemless integration into studio formats such as patchbays and consoles. musically speaking, high quality transformers also sound great and add colorful saturation when driven. the gain staging design of the Space Case does allow for saturation of both the input and output transformers.
