Vintage Moody GA 35 amplifier from the 1960s. A classic valve amplifier from the glory days of Australian amp building. Built in Lidcome, Sydney around 1963, and needs some love and care to bring it back to life.
Currently, it's not working and sold as is. In its working form it should be a dual channel tube amplifier with reverb and vibrato, with four inputs. It should be running two 6L6s for approximately 35W of output through a unique setup of 2x12" MSP speakers and a 1x6" Hi-flux speaker. This one has the original speakers, which apparently work, but is missing the Hi-flux 6" speaker, which were most often removed or disabled by owners.
It also looks absolutely superb - I love the Moody logo and boomerang, which is one of the more distinctive logos of Aussie amp builders. The white tolex is original and looks great, and has been given a good clean, tho its missing the back covers. There is also the classy anodised control panel, in bright red and blue, all the original knobs, and the original white leather handle.
This is one of a number of amplifiers I'll be selling that belonged to a mate who passed away last year. They came out of his work room - he was unable to work on them before he died and the estate has passed them on to me to sell. I don't have a tech background, so am hoping that someone will be able to put in some work to get this back up to scratch.
To give you a ballpark of value, a heavily repaired one of these is currently selling in Melbourne for $1200, which has been retolexed and grille clothed, has replacement speakers (later Plesseys), and a really ugly handle.
Video is not this amplifier - just for an example of how it should sound.
Get in touch with any questions - I'd be happy to have a chat about this amplifier or Aussie amps in general. Drop off in Sydney/ Canberra/ Wollongong may be possible, and shipping may well be less than quoted too, so if you're interested let's see if we can work out a deal that works.
