Six used Roland Juno 106 VCA/VCF chips.
I pulled these out to replace with new chips. While waiting for the new chips I tried cleaning these chips; the epoxy coating becomes conductive and needs to be removed. This was my first attempt, not knowing how many chips would work I opted to replace all of them.
After cleaning the chips I tested them in the synth and they all worked fine. There was no discernible difference between the new and old chips.
It was very labor intensive to clean the old chips and I have had the chance to try it a couple more times with limited success, I doubt I would do it again. However, these six came out great. New replacements run about $70.
No returns - these were tested and packed in anti-static material when I verifed they were working.. If you are not an experienced, qualified tech I would not recommend this as a DIY project. Removing the chips requires a good solder removal system at the least.
