Gibson A-50 Special 1963 Sunburst

This Gibson 12 String Mandolin was made special for Barney Kessel's. The Mandolin is exceeding Rare and Collectible. The photo of Barney with the Mandolin was taken while with the Wrecking Crew.

Barney played on thousands of recordings including movies for all the major Hollywood studios, including 4 Elvis Presley movies, Barbara Streisand's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, two movies with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and one with Jerry Lewis alone. Barney played his instruments on numerous recordings including those with the Righteous Brothers, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Julie London, Sonny & Cher, The Beach Boys and records by Phil Spector. He also played them on numerous Television shows including Hollywood Palace, the Judy Garland show and the Bob Crosby show. Barney played  for many famous radio shows including Bob Crosby's, 5 days a week for one year and Jack Smith's radio show 5 days a week for two years.

This Mandolin has incredible provenance and is signed on the back of the head stock, KESSEL, along with his Social Security number as he did with all of his instruments. Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the instrument.

The Mandolin is in very good condition, the tail piece has been repaired, see photo, and one strip of the tuners is from post 1965 but match the originals. Original Gibson replacement part Truss Rod Cover.  I ship Internationally.
