BOSS TU-2 Chromatic Tuner Tokyo Silver Star TSS Buffer MOD w/ Box & Manual

This is a BOSS TU-2 Chromatic Tuner modified with the Tokyo Silver Star (TSS) Buffer MOD.

The TU-2 has long been a pedalboard standard, but this one is a little more interesting than the usual example. The modification focuses on the TU-2’s buffer circuit, with selected capacitors and resistors replaced and the solder connections reworked to improve the quality of the signal passing through the pedal.

The idea behind the mod is simple: make the TU-2 something you actually want to leave in your signal chain.

Compared with a stock unit, the modified buffer is intended to give the sound a more focused, solid character with better definition and presence. It is especially useful on larger pedalboards or longer cable runs, where a good buffer can help keep the guitar or bass signal clear and lively.

An important point is that the benefit is not limited to the regular OUTPUT. The signal through the BYPASS OUT also passes through the upgraded circuitry, so the pedal can be used as a dedicated always-on buffer while retaining all of the normal TU-2 tuning functions.

The TU-2 itself remains one of BOSS’s most practical pedal tuners, with bright LED metering, guitar/bass and chromatic modes, silent tuning from the main OUTPUT, and a separate BYPASS output.

A very useful piece for players who like the reliability and simplicity of the classic TU-2 but want something a little more special in the signal path.
