Saturnworks Dark Matter Tube Overdrive Guitar Pedal

Several years ago someone asked me to build a Valvecaster-type tube overdrive pedal. Powered by an 12AU7 vacuum tube, the Valvecaster produces a huge volume boost, but adds only a bit of tube overdrive. For me, the original design left some to be desired, so after playing with the design, I came up with the Dark Matter. The Saturnworks Dark Matter has higher gain and warmer tube grit than the original Valvecaster.

The Dark Matter combines both transistor and tube clean boost/overdrive circuits to create a pedal that does full clean boosts, warm tube overdrive, to saturated distortion, and everything in between. Either of the two circuits can be used separately, or can be combined to your send your tone into overdrive bliss.

The Dark Matter features high quality components including:

• A die-cast aluminum 4.5” x 3.5” x 1” enclosure
  
• 'Pro' grade footswitch for triple the durability of standard ‘blue switches most pedals use
  
• A Russian Electro-Harmonix 12UA7 vacuum tube (other brands of 12UA7 tubes may be installed, please inquire for availability and price)
  
• Heavy Duty Neutrik jacks
  
• Military-spec silver-plated wire

The Dark Matter is custom built-to-order, and takes around two weeks.
