This great drum shell pack is one of several demo sets that we picked up from the NAMM show directly from Mapex. These kits were marked as demos because some were taken out of the original packaging for photo ops, or used as display models. Because of this some of the heads may show wear from playing and the shells might have a few finish flaws. Because it is a demo set, we're selling it with a crazy low price! On this specific set it is in mint condition. Everything had the original boxes and was wrapped as it is from the factory. There may have been some very minor finish flaws, but nothing that we saw upon our inspection. The 5-piece Saturn Drum Shells are crafted by the drum artisans at Mapex to match the finest, thinnest plies of North American maple with a selection of dark, rich walnut. The result is a beautifully handcrafted drum with a remarkably wide tonal range. When you actually sit behind a Mapex Saturn drum set and experience its performance, you realize just how incredible your playing can sound. Every Mapex Saturn component on the SW504SU drum set is finished with 8 hand-rubbed coats of high-gloss lacquer. This unique finishing process gives the drums a beautifully deep, high-gloss, protective shine. Mapex Saturn toms and snares are equipped with exclusive Mapex Powerhoops. Made from 2.3mm chrome steel, Mapex Powerhoops provide less resistance without adding unnecessary weight that may mute the drum. The tom drum's mount is secured via the lugs and is not drilled directly into the shell. The Mapex I.T.S. System allows the shell to vibrate freely, allowing for maximum projection and resonance. Saturn floor I.T.S. tom legs are isolated from the shell and include spring loaded feet, that enhance sustain and increase projection. The Mapex bass drum's non-penetrating double tom holder features multidirectional adjustment for precise setup. The tom holder mechanism is also completely removable for players that prefer tom stands. Mapex Saturn non-penetrating I.T.S. telescopic bass drum spurs isolate the shell from additional holes and distribute the weight of the drum across existing lug mounts. All maple, lacquer finished bass drum hoops are secured by low-profile, cushioned bass drum claw hooks. Mapex's low mass lugs are secured to the shell via only one point of penetration. Fewer holes in the drum shell means less vibratory interruption, resulting in truer tone and unimpeded resonance.
